The Pact - Discussion 2

"Sometimes people are drawn together for a purpose that even they don't recognize at the time. I am convinced that this is what happened with Sam, Rameck, and Me." p. 59

What purpose does the relationship between the friends serve? Use examples in your explanation.

Rameck, Sam and George were all drawn together for a very special reason. Not only had all three of them been raised in th same neighborhood or environment but they also all went through most of the same things.I feel as though they were drawn together at University High to be each other's backbones when times got hard. Rameck had done some time for a crime he had stupidly committed and sam was also now doing time for a crime he had committed . It was such a huge coincidence that these two men were goin through the same situations in throughout there summer without even knowing.

I also feel as though they were just meant to be friends and meant to be together. Faith lead these three young men out of hardship and into getting thier minds straight. They were now in the same highschool together nd were soon to be going to college together to become professionals. The book leads me to think that all three of them will go through more hardships or struggles and life but this time they would have each other to help them overcome the bad. These three friends were just meant to be.

I agree with a lot of the things that darlene said. George, Sam, and Rameck all had very tough childhoods with not very much parental guidance. They came from tough neighborhoods and had a lot of peer pressure put on them. Sam and Rameck were hanging out with the wrong crowd when they were sent to juvenile detention or jail. George was not hanging out with the right crowd either. These 3 boys were crying out for help and needed a fresh start.

The 3 boys got a fresh start by all becoming friends because they all learned valuable lessons and wanted to move on in life. They wanted to stay out of trouble and get a good education and life a successful life. Each of the boys should understand that the best thing for them is to stay close friends with eachoter.

I believe the 3 boys are together because, they all have something in common. They were all poor growing up in the tough streets of Newark. The boys all witness robberies, fihgts, and drug dealing.

Since they can relate with one other they can easily start a conversion. George could be like "Hey, don't you hate it when gunshots go off at night?" and they would be able to responed to his question because they have witnessed it. I met a lot of freiends just talking about sports or music. It makes it easier to break the ice with someone you don't know.

The 3 boys; Sam, George, and Rameck all grew up in a very tough neighborhood where there were always rapes, robbery's , killings etc.. a place u wish u never have to live in. They had many similarities. Their family life wasnt a very healty one and there were situations in Sams family that Rameck was going through also, but one thing that they ALL definately had in common was their dream to achive and strive for a better life. They saw how the world around them was and they didnt want to end up that way. Like Rameck saw how his mother couldnt read and he told himself that he doesnt want to end up living like that and so he made a goal to go to school and become educated. There were times when they were tempted to do wrong things on the streets but they always had eachothers back and leaned on one another when one was weak. A friendship like that is hard to break and they were surely destined to meet one another. That is why they are the successful men that they are today because they always kept eachother in check.

The struggles of Sam Rameck and George were so very similar and for that reason it brought them all together. They were 3 boys growing up in the same neighborhood and trying to survive. Through all the shooting and drugs and etc. It started in University High. They all grew up in a tough neighborhood and were all tempted to do wrong. Like Sam and Rameck were in the wrong place at the wrong time and got in trouble for it.

The fact that all of these boys had a dream to make it big in life brought them together. Though it is not common for men in their neighborhood at this time to be successful in the way they were, they did in and did it together. Destiny lead them together and gave them the bond that they had. They were all similar and for that reason drawn togther for a special reason. That being an inspiration to everyone to try harder and they can make it like they did. Faith brought the bond that they have to be so strong and be supports to each other in time of need.

Rameck, Sam and Georger were all together from the start. There has be a reason why all of them are together its not by fate. I think the author put them all together so they can build on one another. They are like a ladder they need each other for support and to build to get stronger. When one wants to do something the other one tries harder to succeeded the person to show.

Sometimes people are drawn together for a purpose that even they don't recognize at the time. I am convinced that this is what happened with Sam, Rameck, and Me." p. 59 . This quote shows alot of meaning when George said that. He dosent know why they were drawn together but they were. Even Carla knows that they are all special and are there for each other. No one thought that any of them were going to college and would make it. But one of their dreams pushed all of those brillant boys to succeed and do well. Some people just need a good push to get where they are going in life. That is what those 3 unique boys did.

Think about: Do you have a friend that is a positive influence and pushes you to do the right thing? How does he/she counteract the bad influences?

The reason that Sam, Rameck , and george are all drawn together is. the fact that all three grew up with the same problems and issues. because they all were from the same block and from the same back round. they had a getto bond you can say. And the thing that made them so close and that had drawn them together was the stuggle and the hard time that made all of them want to make it out for good.

these three men were drawn together they all had a common goal to get out and to be different. i know why they wantd to get out they want to get out because the hood or newark. doesnt change everyone their stays the way they are. its only few who make it out and become sussesful. and personaly i think iam one of them. Rameck, george and sam have the same feeling and thoughts that i have. when they were young and fresh out of high school unlike everyone else it was time to go and thats how i was i. oi started college be for i finsh high school

I agree with my peers that Rameck, Sam, and George all had similar struggles but they weren't quiet the same. They seen the same things everyday which are negative for a young men to see. But through there hardships they found a way to keep positive heads on their shoulders. They used each other as their own personal support system since their family's were to busy trying to keep a roof over their heads.
Since they had similar characteristics they related to each other. It made it easier for them to conversate and made it much easier for them to reach their goal which was to become professionals not regular workers. They knew it was going to be a rocky road but they up to the challenge if they stayed together and know could break off the pact if they wanted to be successful.

There is a cliche that says there is somebody out their for everyone. I believe the same quote can relate to friendship and not just relationships. Rameck, Sam, and George were born to become best friends. they all went thru hardships, and with the help between one another they were all able to get thru it. They all wanted better lives and thru each other they were able to grow up and become bettter people.

Because the three boys all lived in the samy type of town where there was trouble, they all knew how to handle different situations. They were able to use their experiences to counteract the troubles of one of their friends. This is why they really do make the perfect match for being bestfriends.

I believe that George, Sam, and Rameck were brought together by fate. The reasons why the connected and became friends was because the many things they had in common. They all grew in bad neighborhood. They were good students but not geeks. They shared similar stories and they believe they were good kids. Even when they were getting into trouble like Sam and Rameck were, they knew they were doing wrong. But the situation that they were put in and they kind of friends they were hanging out with made it hard for them to stay out of trouble.

I truly believe that Rameck and Sam were very lucky to have found a friend like George. If it wasn't for George they probably would not have been doctors today. George was a good influence on Sam and rameck. His positive thinking and his strong believe that you can do anything if you believe in yourself helped Sam and rameck believe they can do it too.

The male ego is to always be competitive. Guys always want to do better than the next guy or score higher than his friend even on the score board. these three guys come from similar backgrounds and they can use eachother for help when one is down.
Sam, Rameck and George all became friends for a reason and thats so they could support eachother through the obstacles along the way. They all soon realize that they are eachothers support system and thats the reason the met.

This relationship for these men is something really special. The three of them were not all raised in the best places but they were all raised in the same surrounding that is how they all gel so well together. When growing up in a neighborhood such as theirs friendship is huge thing to have an hold through your years living there.
I feel real strong for these guys that they will be friends for a long time and their friendship will carry them through live in a better way. They all have traits about one another that inspire the other to excel more a more. These guys are true friends and will be for a long time. George to me seems to be the leader since he is the most positive to the other bringing them up an supporting them.
