Lovely Bones - Discussion Question # 5

What was Susie’s and Lindsey’s relationship like before the tragedy? What are the particular expectations and pressures Lindsey must cope with after Susie’s death? How does Susie’s death change Lindsey?

Susie and Lindsey were very close sisters. They always did things together, and were cery fond of their little brother. Lindsey now that Susie is gone goes in her room and wears her clothes, and goes through her things just to get a feel that susie is still in her pressence. Since susie has passed away, Linsey has had to deal with all the people around her at school, and the camp that she went to catergorizing her into that girl whos sister died. He has to deal with all of the looks and stares and even people saying things about her behing her back. Everyone acts differnetly towards her now and it affeccts her in her own way. Lindsey has become more permiscuous since Susie has passed away, she is more into taking away the pain by getting with her boyfriend. It must be hard to lose someone so close, so people will do anything to get rid of the pain

Before Susie's death, Susie and Lindsey were close. They told each other everything and did so many things together. Now that Susie has died, Lindsey is faced with many obstacles and changes in her life. People at school seem to treat her differently as if she were more lonely and stare at her in school. Although I agree with Hannah's statement that because of the people at school treating her differently, she has become more daring and social. On the other hand, the camp that she went to classified her as "the girl whose sister died." Mostly everyday, Lindsey goes into Susies room and wears her clothes as well as going through her things to feel as if Susie was still around. Lindsey also copes with the pain of Susie's death by getting away with her boyfriend.

I agree with Hannah and Sam that Susie and Lindsey were very close. They were only a year appart which allowed for them to be even closer. After Susie died there were a lot more expectations and pressures put on Lindsey. Lindsey's family tried to keep a closer eye on Lindsey so they would be able to prevent what happened to Susie from happening to her. Lindsey feels like she is expected to solve the mystery of her sisters death since no one else except the father is trying to. She also has the pressure of being the dead girls sister which makes it harder for her in school. I agree with Hannah that Susis's death has made Lindsey more permiscuous and more daring. Most of the things that Linsey does she probably would not even think of doing if Susie were still around.

well susie and lindsey were realy close, they did a lot of things together. they did things every sister would do. after susie died everything changed for lindsey. she was expected to go on with her daily life, and acting the same way. but everyone knows that you cant. lindsey had the pressure of not knowing what happened, and everyone looking at her differently.
after susie's death lindsey was looked at as the dead girls sister. treated differently, because most people would be expected to be greaving over her sisters dead. and she was on the inside. but she didnt want to show that to anyone.
after susie's death lindsey became more social, and was more into boys. because when you think about it. her best friend was her sister, and now that shes gone who would she be freinds with. in her case she didnt care. she also had a sudden interst in boys. all of the new things she started to do was probably because she didnt want to feel or think about the tragidy that had happened to her sister. many people would probably di the same thing.
