The book I chose is The kite runner. Before i switched to this class my friend Safa ,who is also in this class , tolt me about the book that she had chose to read for reading class. I asked her about the story that the book had. she said that the story takes place in Afganistan.I chose this book because it introduces the relationship between a father and the son.Good and bed sides of society are also introdeced in this book.Another reason i chose this book is because i like to read and introduce myself with other cultures.

I chose the Kite Runner becouse in my high school the "other" English class has read it. I was told by my peers that it is a very intresting book that demonstrates different points of view in Afganistan. The view points of different people is what brought me to pick up this book. I find myself enjoying stories that tells a story that demonstrates different points of views. Especially the difference between a wealthy character and a struggling character.

I do not know much about Afganistan or the culture there. In the book The Kite Runner the main character Amir is from afganistan, he talks about his life there. How a certain tribe were made fun off because of there flat noses. I do know that Afganistan is in Asia and that is was founded in 1747 by Shah Durrani.
I also know very little about Taliban. i know that they took over most of Afganistan in 1994.

I don't know too much about Afghanistan except that it is a poor country with a lot of oil. Women are degraded because it is a whole different lifestyle. Religion plays a significant role in the lives of Afghanistans citizens and the way people behave. Before the Taliban life was much easier. Everyone was less worried and no one saw a war coming. Airports were more lenient and so was security everywhere.

Honestly, I have never even heard of the country of Afganistan before the attack on September 11. Since then, their have been many written articles and talked about discussions about Afganistan. From what I can remember, I believe that women were downgraded upon just like Denise mentioned. I think that they were not able to look into the eyes of men unless they were related to them or it was their own husband. But I am not too sure about this so do not quote me on it.
From reading the book The Kite Runner, I have learned just like Safa said that the main character Amir is from Afganistan and a tribe was made fun of because of their flat noses.
Like I mentioned before, I do not know much about Afganistan, likewise, I do not know much about what life was like before the Taliban. I would guess that life was much easier and less violence occurred. However, I'm pretty sure that the country had political and economic problems as well, because what country would not?

I don't really know a lot of information about Afganistan.when i was in high school i had to take a geography course. One of the chapters was about asia and its territory.Since afganistan has an important geagraphic territory we had to study about it too. Afganistan is located in central Asia and had an important role n connecting different parts of Asia to each other. Afganistan is an Islamic Republic which has suffered many brutal civil wars. I can't say much regarding the life in Taliban because i never read or heard anything about it.Form the book The Kite Runner I could say that there are many social and economic differences between different tribes in Afganistan. Even though in general it is a poor country there are many rich and educated people such as Amir and his family. On the other hand there are many poor and uneducated people such as Ali and his wife.

I didnt learn about Afghanistan alot during school Ive kind of gained info after 9/11 by the news and some tv shows about the country. I know that its country is based alot on religion. Men and women believe highly in their own god and the works of the Koran. They are in an important party of the east connecting many important countries, its is also landlocked. Also they have been exposed to many civil wars throughout the years. Since the Taliban the country has been exposed to alot of violence, also it has camps to train young ppl in the art of gorilla warfare. Before the taliban, what i have read from the book, the characters seem like they have alittle more freedom than ppl do today. They get to go to the movies and now a days i dont even think people there can do that anymore. Also they were building orphanges and they had soccer in the country.

I'm with most of the other classmates on the lack of knowledge when it comes to Afganistan. The taliban in my point of view has made the lives of Afganistan citizens much more difficult. I belive that if Afganistan continued to devlope before the taliban they would be a much more economically devolped today.

I know some information about Afghanistan because Russians fought with them for 10 years since 1979-1989. When I was in Ukraine a lot of people talked about Afghanistan, there were many veterans my family knew, books written, movies made and songs written. I have heard that Afghanistan is one of the first ancient civilizations, that it has never been conqured. I also know that they fought with many other countires such as Britain, and Russia. People in Afghanistan are very religious. Before the Taliban regime, Afghanistan was more free, people had more rights, they could own small business, watch western movies, read western literature.
